Stay Off the Road: Our Trip to Wellington

Wellington is the capitol of New Zealand and a city of about 200,000 people. It has a hipster area in Cuba Street, lots of bars and strip clubs (oddly enough), and is home to New Zealand’s film industry, hence the nickname Wellywood. Peter Jackson has his studio here, and so did lots of filming for the Lord of the Rings in the area. Naturally, we found a film location to enjoy, but we were careful to “Stay off the road…”

Hobbiton, the Place I Was Born to Live

On New Years’ Day, after an exciting morning of Zorbing, we channeled our inner Bilbo Baggins and set off on an adventure! To Hobbiton.

A little pathetic backstory here: Hobbiton was really the reason that I had chosen New Zealand as a honeymoon destination in the first place. I was so enchanted by the scenery of the Lord of the Rings movies that I wanted to visit the film locations myself. Hobbiton was the only site we made it to, though. Now back to Hobbiton itself.
